  • DAY 1: PUERTO VARAS & LLANQUIHUE LAKE. WHITEWATER RAFTING

    Transfer in from Puerto Montt airport to hotel in Puerto Varas. Free time to relax in this picturesque city of the Lake Region with its century-old mansions, cozy restaurants and natural attractions along the shores of Llanquihue Lake. In the afternoon, enjoy whitewater rafting on the Petrohue river. Later transfer to Petrohue village. Overnight in Petrohue Lodge.

    ACCOMMODATION: Petrohue Lodge

  • DAY 2: FULL DAY EXCURSION & HIKING TO ANDEAN VOLCANOES & LAKES

    Breakfast. At 8:30am. We start hiking from the lodge itself and will be able to realize a loop on the steep foothills of the symbol of the lakes district: Osorno volcano. Amazing views around Todos Los Santos lake, Puntiagudo volcano and Tronador hill at the border with Argentina. Lunch box on the trail. At the end of the hike, we enjoy some swimming in the emerald lake and boat back to our lodge.

  • DAY 3:

    KAYAKING RELONCAVI FJORD

    Breakfast at 7:30am. Early transfer to Ensenada, get the kayaking gear to start paddling the lower section of Petrohue river along 20 kilometers of flat water on the river. Lunch will be on a beach on the way. Now we are at the entrance of the Reloncavi Fjord. We reach our campsite for tonight, a remote grassy beach on the fjord and a great lookout for dolphins. We meet our hosts Juan Carlos & Yolanda have been living here for 3 generations and will be in charge of our traditional dinner for this night. Before ending our day, we will hike to the Fjord lookout having a new point of view. Dinner around the fire pit, we enjoy local lamb with home grown vegetables

  • DAY 4: KAYAKING RELONCAVI FJORD

    Breakfast at 7:30. We pack and carry our gear in our kayaks. We are in front of Yates volcanoes and leave on our sides (both East and West) glacial valleys such as Cochamo, known as the Yosemite of Chile. Lunch box on a beach on our way. In the afternoon we reach the Factoria Park, a private 1.700 hectares conservation project located between the fjord and national park Alerce Andino. We set camp up at the Hut with great views over the fjord and beside our Refugio. Hot showers and dinner at the Refugio cooked with the guides. Overnight in shared hut.

  • DAY 5: INTO THE WOODS

    Breakfast at 7:30am. We start the hike early and light, today we aim towards the hidden lagoons in the mountains in the rain forest discovering endemic species and will be crossing a section full of Alerce trees which was declared natural monument back in 1976. These trees (Fitzroya cupressoides) are among the oldest trees in the world, the oldest being in Chile at more than 5,000 years old. Reach the Millenaria lagoon, the hike takes us on the sidehills of the fjord and after 8 kms and 800 meters of elevation gain we reach our lunch and swim spot. We enjoy the day surrounded by granite walls and native forest and can swim in some of the more pristine waters possible. Lunch prepared by our guides with the help of the entire group. In the late afternoon we start to hike down back to our Refugio. Dinner at the hut after this amazing day.

  • DAY 6: KAYAKING TO COCHAMO VALLEY

    Breakfast at 7:30am. We are ready to pack the kayaks after breakfast. We start to paddle north towards the Cochamo valley. Lunch will be on a beach in the fjord. Depending on the tide conditions we can paddle upstream a couple of kilometers of the Cochamo river before we meet with our driver. Drive back to Puerto Varas. Farewell dinner and overnight in Puerto Varas.

Fitness

DIFFICULTY AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONING

This trip requires some prior experience with kayaks. We may encounter variable weather, sea-state and tidal conditions that may require modifications to the itinerary. You should be comfortable in water and be in reasonably good physical condition. After that, a love for the outdoors and desire to see one of the most beautiful places on the planet is a must.
